Martyrs Day was observed in Gogte College of Commerce on 30thJan ‘2019 at 11:00 am. Shri. Sadashivrao Babasaheb Bhonsale a 100-year-old freedom fighter was the Chief Guest for the function.
Shri. Sadashivrao Babasaheb Bhonsale addressing the students recalled his old memories remembering that he was the 1st MLA from Belagavi of Mumbai province interim government and was selected from Belagavi south region in 1946 and was again re-elected in 1952, he briefed that he resigned from the post of MLA on a call of Bhudan movement initiated by Jayprakash Narayan and Vinoba Bhave in 1955.

Bhonsale emphasized that jail was not a punishment for him, it was an institution that taught him discipline at the same time gained knowledge about spinning Charakha. Dr. H. H. Veerapur, principal – Gogte College of Commerce, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the struggle made by freedom fighters before independence. Shri Subhash Kulkarni was Guest of Honour for the function, he spoke about martyrs day on this occasion.
Extempore speech competition was a part of Martyrs day function. The function was organized by Prof. Sejal Bagi and Prof. Roopali Kulkarni and their team. Prof. Ashwini Naik introduced the Chief Guest. Rules of the competition was announced by Prof Shamala Patil. Miss Darshana Bandekar introduced the judges of the event. Prof Rajani Kulkarni and Shri Santosh Kukarni were the judges for the competition. Around 35 students from various colleges had participated in the competition. Ms. Shreshta Kuryalkar and Ms. Madhura Deshpande were the Masters of Ceremony, a documentary was played by Mr Musaddiq Choudhary. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Manjunath Kumbargoppa.


As Per the instruction of Chief Election commission, National Voters Day was celebrated in Gogte College of Commerce on 25th Jan 2019. The event was organized under the guidance of Principal Dr H. H. Veerapur.

The students of KLS Gogte College of Commerce, Belagavi participated in an English essay-writing competition organized by JSS Shri Manjunatheshwara Institute of UG and PG Studies, Vidyagiri, Dharwad. final year students represented the Department of English under the guidance of Prof. Namita Shetye. Miss. Vaishnavi Phatarphod won the second prize.
Miss Ashwini Walvekar and Miss Divya Hashilkar won the fourth prize. The Chairman of KLS Gogte College of Commerce Shri. V.M. Deshpande, Principal Dr. H.H. Veerapur, Prof. Namita Shetye, Prof. Manjunath Kumbaragoppa, staff and students congratulated the winners on their success.
